Hospital Manager
Karen is the Hospital Manager at Burr Ridge Veterinary Clinic and has worked here as manager since 1997, when she was hired by the practice’s founder, Dr. Velders. She grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois, where she received a degree in international business. As an undergrad, Karen met her husband Brian and they married between his first and second year of vet school.
Karen has served at president and board member of the ISVMA and CVMA auxiliaries and has volunteered for the CVMA Pet Loss Helpline. Outside of veterinary medicine, she has also held board positions in the PTA, Downers Grove South Marching Mustang Band Boosters and many committees at her church as well as serving as a senior high youth group leader.She is the proud mom of 2 daughters and two grandchildren. Theoden was recently adopted after being found wandering outside. He is also an orange cat, but unlike Pierre, has both his eyes. His picture will be posted soon.
